Department of Civil Engineering

1)Introduction

The Department of Civil Engineering at D.Y Patil School of Engineering Academy was established in the year 2011 with an intake of 60 for UG course. The department was grown to take the additional intake to Direct Second Year for Diploma students. The department is affiliated to Savitribai Phule Pune University, Pune and approved by AICTE, New Delhi.

The department has well qualified faculty and experienced staff supported with well equipped laboratories, computing facilities.

Five years ago, with a mission of creating and forming a much needed talent for the nation was set by our beloved president Dr. Vijay D Patil, in the form of Dr. D. Y. Patil School of Engineering Academy. Civil Branch has been and always will be considered as oldest of the main disciplines of engineering. Civil engineering, the mother branch, has kept pace with the rapid growth in the field of technology. It is that branch of engineering which provides basic amenities required for the survival and maintenance of the environment. These civil engineers built all types of structures, design water-supply, sewer systems, railroads, highways and plan cities.

2) Training & placement Cell Objectives:

Vision: " To be the fountainhead of novel ideas and innovations in technology and science dedicated to the service of nation”.

Mission: “To create an ambience of academic excellence in which novel ideas, research and scholarship flourish and from which the leaders and innovators of tomorrow emerge”.

As there are large numbers of engineering colleges coming up in Maharashtra, the competition for employment is increasing every day and the job of placement is becoming a challenging one. A full pledged placement cell is functioning in our college. The Training & Placement Cell provides all audio visual facilities for PowerPoint Presentations, written test, group discussion and interviews. It plays a very important and key role in counseling and guiding the students of the University for their Successful Career Placement which is a crucial interface between the stages of completion of academic program of the students and their entry into the suitable employment. The Placement and Training Centre is also supported with infrastructure such as seminar hall with modern electronic teaching aids like LCD projector, internet service, computer support etc., which enables them to get exposed to real Industrial problems, which in turn develops their confidence, transforms them from graduates into Engineers, resulting into more Employability and Entrepreneurship.

Campus recruitment drives are undertaken by inviting companies from the private. public and government sectors to place Institute's students at entry level positions. Placement assistance is provided industry sector-wise as well as by functional area wise.
